Takht-i-Bahi
Takht-i-Bahi has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980. It is located approximately 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) from Hoti-Mardan, Pakistan. The site features a well-preserved Buddhist monastic complex situated 178 meters (586 feet) above the surrounding plains. In contrast, Sahri Bahlol is located on the adjoining plain, just about 2 miles away from Takht-i-Bahi. Together, they form one of the most significant archaeological zones in the Peshawar Valley.
Takht-i-Bahi is considered the most well-preserved Buddhist monastic archaeological site in the region, with excavations beginning in the early 20th century and continuing to the present day. The monastery was originally established in the 1st century CE and remained in active use until the 7th century CE.
